LOVE: Valentino Couture Fall 2010
Tons of celebrities attended the opening of Valentino’s archives last week. The event took place at Valentino Garavani’s Wideville château, just outside of Paris:

LOVE: Louis Vuitton Fall 2010 RTW
It was impossible for me to pick my “Top Four.” Well, not impossible, but I felt it would be cruel to leave out so many beautiful Vuitton looks:
.
.
It came into style about three years ago, but the little black belt does not seem to be going away anytime soon. Thankfully, I have no problem with that–I love it!

Terry Richardson photo number five of eight for TR Week! Yes, there are seven days in a week…but why wouldn’t you want an extra?

LOVE: Marc Jacobs Fall 2010 RTW
Obligatory Marc Jacobs RTW post. They say his show is the hottest in New York. Whoever they are…they should also add Alexander Wang (everything he makes reaches “it” level status) and Betsey Johnson (she really knows how to put on a show).
.
Anyways, here are my “Top Four” from the Marc Jacobs Fall 2010 RTW collection:
This collection was great in that some of the cuts were very conservative (below the knee hem lines, high waists, etc.) but the materials made them modern. Take this coat for example:
It’s a classic cut. Yet the sparkling, transparent material gives it a twist & makes it innovative. MJ is able to mix contradictory elements in a way that no other designer can.

Lara Stone is dying for Louis Vuitton. A.K.A Lara Stone looks dead in the Louis Vuitton SS 10 ad campaign. Creative director, Marc Jacobs, described the ads as “images that are desirable, colorful, whimsical, and of course, luxurious.” I love you Marc, but I have no idea what you’re talking about.
I feel like I’ve accidently stumbled upon a crime scene when I look at this. The birds don’t exactly help either. White doves are well known as a symbols of peace. R.I.P…
..
Am I just a completely morbid person, or do you see it too?

Style Rookie’s Tavi Gevinson recently dyed her hair blue. Supposedly the inspiration for this drastic change came from Dazed fashion editor, Katie Shillingford, who has platinum blonde hair with navy tips.
.
I think Katie’s hair is interesting. Definitely not something I’ll try today, but she pulls it off. Tavi, on the other hand looks better with her natural hair color. Although, who knows, maybe her new shade will grow on me.

I don’t want to go overboard here, but it’s possible that blue hair will become a trend. Not only does an influential fashion blogger have blue hair, but it was also shown at the Chanel Couture show:
.
I like the Chanel version – It’s more subtle than Tavi’s & Katie’s hair.

And just for fun… a mini retrospective of blue dos:

.
^Kate Hudson. Ok who else thinks she looks like Jessica Szohr?
.
^Kirsten Dunst
.
^Queen of all media, Perez Hilton
.
^Linda Evangelista
.
.
So, would you ever go blue?
.
.
And is it just me, or does Tavi look just a little like Andy Warhol (love) here?

The thing about fashion is that it’s temporary. “Fashion’s life is short. It’s six months, six months, six months,” said Karl Lagerfeld on his Twitter. It’s ironic then, that Chanel’s Spring ’10 runway showcased something as permanent as tattoos.
.
.
Well maybe it’s not that ironic as they were temporary tattoos. What do you guys think of this trend? Will you be giving yourself temporary tattoos this summer? Do you think they’re tacky? Let me know!
.
P.S.- Check out the pictures below- see if you can figure out which ones are real vs. temp.

TREND: Clowning Around
It seems like Fashion Week SS’10 was ages ago, but actually the clothes are just starting to arrive in stores.
I love analyzing collections & predicting what trends are on the horizon. So, after perusing a few slides, I’ve concluded that come April the most fashion savvy among us will be sporting clown suits. Er… at the very least festive, colorful, circus themed pieces.
