LOVE: Rodarte Fall 2010 RTW
Interesting inspiration for the Rodarte Fall 2010 RTW collection. Sleepwalking…

“Top Four” from the show:

And here are two details I love:
.
In keeping with the sleepwalking theme, the lights were turned out at the end of the show & the models’ outfits were shown under black light. Eerie, ghostly & beautiful.

Yesterday I saw the Christian Cota Presentation at the Metropolitan Pavilion.

Here are my “Top Four” from the collection:

It was a very intense presentation. The models all wore nearly identical wigs. They stood on top of a large platform and stared straight ahead like soldiers. According to the program, the collection took inspiration from “the Cubist way of seeing.”

Here are my pictures from the event:

Obligatory Marc Jacobs RTW post. They say his show is the hottest in New York. Whoever they are…they should also add Alexander Wang (everything he makes reaches “it” level status) and Betsey Johnson (she really knows how to put on a show).
.
Anyways, here are my “Top Four” from the Marc Jacobs Fall 2010 RTW collection:
This collection was great in that some of the cuts were very conservative (below the knee hem lines, high waists, etc.) but the materials made them modern. Take this coat for example:
It’s a classic cut. Yet the sparkling, transparent material gives it a twist & makes it innovative. MJ is able to mix contradictory elements in a way that no other designer can.

LOVE: Victoria Beckham Fall 2010 RTW
Woah now! I didn’t exactly think I was going to hate Victoria Beckham’s new collection, but I certainly didn’t think I was going to…want it. Surprise, surprise:
.
I am blown away like an Olsen on Saturday Night Live.

Starting this post out with a bang. Or rather, a “Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang.” I took this photo at the very end of the show, but I think it deserves to be shown first:
I attended the Betsey Johnson Fall 2010 RTW show last night & my life is forever changed. Ok maybe that’s a little much, but the show really was spectacular. Because it was Valentine’s Day, the theme for the night was “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.” Models did not simply walk the runway. They acted as banditos, gamblers, rangers, vagabonds, farm hands, bank clerks, brothelettes, robbers, witches, gypsys & madames. Guns were pointed, money was thrown, and models were slapped.
.
The models also interacted with the audience a bit. One even threw front row guest, Melissa Joan Hart, her hat:
Some other interesting moments included Kelly Osbourne walking the runway & a small tribute to Alexander McQueen:
^The model wore red wax lips McQueen showed in his Fall ’09 show

Here are my “Top Four” looks from the Betsey Johnson show:
I really can’t ramble on enough. The show was brilliant! Very entertaining & engaging.
Betsey ended it as she usually does- with cartwheels:

Here are a few more of my personal pictures:.

^Everyone wanted to have one of the huge blow up hearts to keep keep as a souvenir
.
.
I didn’t need a giant blow up heart because I got this awesome gift bag:
.
.
The gift bags included Stila makeup boxes that can be hooked up to an iPod or iPhone to play music. There were a few Betsey Johnson items, some Stila makeup, tons of discount cards, etc.

The Monique Lhuillier Fall 2010 RTW show was unreal. I had a second row seat by Warren Wright of The Faindent. I was very happy to have seen these stunning dresses up close.

Here are some of my pictures:

I have an excellent video of all the dresses during the final run through. Check back in a bit to watch the video & to read my thoughts on the show!
.
PS I can’t wait to see these show up on a red carpet.

I literally ran out of the Lela Rose show this morning to make it to Lorick’s presentation at the Union Square Ballroom. So glad I made it, otherwise I would have missed a seriously cool event. When I first walked in I saw this:
.
.
It’s the white backdrop the models are lined up against to have their photos taken. It created a very cool silhouette on the opposite side. As I made my way to the front, I passed a bar. Yes, a bar serving drinks at 11:00 in the the morning. A photographer then asked me to pose for a photo & of course I obliged. And of course it was awkward.
.
.
Finally, I reached the models & took some pictures:

I wonder if Blair Waldorf will wear one of these on Gossip Girl

Early this morning I attended the Lela Rose show at Bryant Park. On my way over, I had some weird applesauce you can drink through a packet for breakfast & my friend took a picture because… I looked bizarre. Hey, at least it matches my phone cover, right?
.
When I got to the tent, I saw people waiting outside to be let in. Everyone was there for the Lela show & I thought it was interesting that both combat boots & Christian Louboutins were about to walk into the same show:
I also saw someone with pink hair streaks, which I have said is a trend. Here’s a pic of her light pink highlights:
And here are my pictures from the show:
My “Top Four” from the Lela Rose Fall 2010 collection:
The collection was inspired by textures of the universe; the surfaces of different planets & the outlines of constellations. I like the “liquid Mercury” description used to describe a nude colored jumpsuit. Overall, the collection was just what you would expect from Lela Rose- feminine and whimsical. File this one under LOVE.
