Alongside the launch of her new scent, DAPHNE for Comme des Garçons, Daphne Guinness co-directed a short film with David Parker and All Day Everyday. The original art piece called “Mnemosyne” embodies her concept of scent. “Scent is directly related to memory,” Daphne explains about the film’s narrative. “It is something of a sensory path, evoking snapshots of one’s past as you smell it. It has the power to transport you from the room in which you stand, to a place buried within the depths of your memory. I wanted to illustrate that scent can take you on a journey.”

LOVE: Willow ‘Eclipse’ Fall 2010 RTW
Yesterday, I attended the Willow Fall 2010 RTW show at Exit Art. Once again, I was a little on the early side, so I strolled around the neighborhood, looking for something interesting. What I found was a billboard for Barbie & some posters for Alice & Wonderland…

After taking some pictures, I made my way back to the gallery, grabbed the Daily and took it to my seat. “How Russian Are You?” Yes, I actually took that quiz. Well, what was I supposed to do as I waited for the show to start? A few minutes later, a photographer asked to take my picture. Me? Maybe she just wanted my photo to hang on her bathroom mirror as a “note to self- avoid looking like this creature.” Self deprecation, it’s a skill.

Actually, I’ve had my picture taken a few times this week by random people looking to add some street style images to their websites. Multiple people asked to take pictures of my Hunter wellies at the Rachel Comey show, which sort of makes me laugh.

It can be difficult to get a good shot of the clothes because the lighting is so intense that the models usually just come out looking completely white and over exposed. Which is why I took a video of the final run through. Click the video below to watch!

According to the press handout, the show’s ‘Eclipse’ title refers to “Fabrics [that] work like a second skin. Gently hugging and enhancing the body’s shape. Skin to skin, this sleek silhouette is like a shadow, a perfect Eclipse of the feminine form.” I could definitely see that. Everything was beautiful, but I especially liked the “highlights of blood red and poison pink” that were “injected into the palette.” They truly were shocking and unexpected given that the previous looks were for the most part, neutral colors.

Hope you watched the video because then you would be able to get an idea of the beautiful movement the above nude colored dress had when the model walked in it. From the picture, you might think it’s stiff, but it was actually very lively and whimsical. Hands down my favorite dress of them all.

LOVE: Modern Day Edie Sedgwick- Becka Diamond
Coolest moment this week would have to be seeing Becka Diamond on a fashion shoot. At first I didn’t recognize her because her normally stick straight platinum blonde hair was, well… I’ll just say very different.

She’s fairly new to the fashion scene, so I wouldn’t be surprised if not everybody knows who she is. The only reason I do, is because I’m an insane person who stalks the crap out of everyone on Street Peeper

So, in a nut shell, Becka Diamond is an aspiring actress from Boston. She was dubbed fashion’s new It Girl this September when she made the rounds at New York Fashion Week’s hottest shows & parties. Her best friend is model Dree Hemingway, with whom she is often photographed.

She is gorgeous in person & super charismatic.
Pretty sure there will be a lot of buzz about her come fashion week.
