WANT: Sara’s Six For Spring

Six Things I want For Spring
.
This tiny harmonica on a funky industrial style chain is my ideal accessory–simple and versatile so that it can be worn regularly, but with just enough originality and spunk to stand out.

.

This navy washed leather Sissi Rossi bag is like nothing I’ve ever seen. The pretty blue color reminds me that summer is getting closer, and this is just the bag I’d love to ring in the season with. Plus, it looks like it could contain everything I need when I run around New York.

.

This pattern captivated me from the first time I saw it. I have an ongoing addiction to floral but the red is bolder than most of my softer, pastel pieces. It could just as easily work in the daytime with a white t-shirt and flats, as at night with a silky top and heels.

.

This summery lace top is simply elegant. I have a continual penchant for Joie, and this most recent collection is no exception. The sleeves are in tune with the current lace trend (it’s everywhere!), but it’s a bit more feminine than some of the others I have seen.
Even though these are classic, I want to highlight them for my spring fashion wish list. I neeeeed to add a pair of tortoiseshell sunglasses to my small collection, and when I tried these on the other day I fell in love. They could make any outfit.

.

The ubiquitous shawl sweater has quickly became one of my favorite trends of the past year. This spring adaptation of it is not only an incredibly versatile color but also falls so nicely (yes, I have longingly tried it on). On warm days, it could even be a jacket.

NEXT: If Blair Waldorf Went Phling

Style In Spades is excited to introduce our new Fashion Editor, Sara!

.

Hey, I’m Sara. I’m really excited to be the new Fashion Editor at Style In Spades. Born and raised in New York City, fashion has been around me and a part of my life for as long as I can remember. At fifteen, I got my start when I interned for Cynthia Rowley and witnessed my first Fashion Week. I am a “New York Women in Communications” 2009 Scholarship Winner with a passion for writing and print magazines. I spent my winter break at Seventeen magazine. I’ve got a weakness for The Sartorialist, and “what’s new” on Shopbop sometimes precedes homework. However, my dreams of a corner office at Conde Nast will have to wait until I graduate from college.

.

I’m the kind of girl who will take absolutely any excuse to get dressed up. When I lived in NYC, that was pretty easy. Everything from Friday night dinners to parties on the weekends to Fashion Week to, (let’s face it) school, provided an excuse. However, in Gambier, Ohio, where I now attend Kenyon College, there are far fewer occasions. Enter “Phling,” our once annual, all school prom-esque party.

.

Picking an outfit was super fun. I drew inspiration from one of my favorite fictional fashionistas– the ever-inspiring Blair Waldorf. I found my Kimchi + Blue (current season!) dress for just $19 at one of my favorite NY consignment shops. Though I loved my dress, my Viktor + Rolf lace-up Oxford/Bootie shoes were the real icing on the cake of my outfit. Hard to see in the picture, but I accessorized with simple pearl studs, a twig bangle, and some vintage rhinestone costume jewelry I got from a great-aunt, and I was ready to go!
Until next time.
