The Runaways movie hits theaters this Friday!
(In fact, the New York premiere is happening this very moment)

Kristen Stewart plays Joan Jett, & Dakota Fanning is Cherie Currie:

…Let’s cut to the fashion.

Costume designer, Carol Beadle spoke with Steffie Nelson of This Is Brand X about the costumes in The Runaways movie. “An original ’70s-era Bowie belt buckle made by Currie was revered as the holy grail of accessories on set. Beadle dressed Fanning in it ‘as much as I possibly could,’ and the actress cites it as one of her favorite pieces.” Taking a look back at some of Brad Elterman’s old photos, it becomes apparent that Cherie actually had many David Bowie belts:

Another David Bowie belt, slightly different from the one above:

“Platform boots of every height, color and texture (including an especially fabulous vintage pair of green leather with tan snakeskin trim) were bought, rented and commissioned from Andre #1, a custom cobbler on Sunset who made boots for KISS and the Runaways and still had some of the original lasts from the all-girl band. Beadle had Fanning’s corset made by Trashy Lingerie on Cahuenga ‘because it seemed the most appropriate place,’ she says with a smile.”

Cherie and Joan in Platforms:

“‘Platforms are huge right now,’ says Beadle, who is in the midst of designing her own shoe line. ‘You’ll see the really big ones we used in The Runaways this Fall,’ she says. And Fanning is already ahead of the curve. She got to keep a pair of silver platform boots that she wore in the film and adds: ‘I’m just waiting for the right time to whip those out.’”

And just for fun, more photos of The Runaways (for the most part, shot by Brad Elterman)

Hold on… is this actually Brad Elterman? I would kind of die of happiness! Otherwise this is a cruel, cruel joke and I would prefer to never know/continue to delude myself.

OMG, you know what’s so weird?!?!?!

I saw the picture that said “The Whiskey presents The Runaways and Weirdos.”

My 7th grade algebra teacher Mr. Roman was a guitarist for the punk band The Weirdos back in the day.

    Only in LA, huh?
