NEXT: Warhol Would Approve- WesFeld at Gen Art New Garde Showcase

Posted in By Em, NEXT by styleinspades on February 10, 2010
Gen Art streamed their New Garde showcase live on the Plastics Make It Possible website this evening. The main focus of the event was the new WesFeld collection designed by Wesley Nault and Daniel Feld.  The clothes were made completely out of plastic & aesthetic inspiration was drawn from seashells. The shells’ muted colors, layers of calcium deposit, and engraved lines were transmuted into dress form.

I had planned to attend the New Garde showcase in person, but clearly the snow wanted me to watch it on my computer instead. Thank you snowpocalypse. Actually, watching the presentation online wasn’t horrible. In fact, it felt very appropriate to see New Garde through new media.

The video was set up so that I could simultaneously watch the event & chat with Plastics Make It Possible. I felt even more connected to the event as guests shared their photos through twitter. The photo above sums up the whole experience. Notice the variety of devices used to capture the moment… they practically swallow Molly Sims!

Here are some of the first photos that popped up on twitter:

Below is a screen shot I took of the video:

I’m still anxious to see quality photos once they become available. Check back tomorrow for higher resolution. Geez, it’s crazy that I can publish a story about an event that ended an hour ago.

Anyways, before you go… can I just (randomly) point out that Andy Warhol would have loved, loved, loved this event:
“I’m the type who’d like to sit home and watch every party that I’m invited to on a monitor in my bedroom.”

Everybody’s plastic, but I love plastic. I want to be plastic.”
